Odisha Govt. Announces COVID Relief Package Worth Rs 11 Crore : Know more

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced the COVID-19 relief package for OMFED farmers in the state in order to support their livelihood during the pandemic.

The COVID-19 relief package worth around Rs 11 crore and a total of 1.20 lakh farmers will be benefited in the state.

Under the package each milk farmer will be given financial assistance up to Rs 6,000 to meet their expense towards purchasing of fodder, said a statement from the CM.

While making an announcement for the relief package, Patnaik said the Covid pandemic has affected all the sectors and slow down due to COVID-19 induce lockdown and shutdowns. Only the agriculture and allied sector has given a boost to the state’s economy.

The CM stated “Dairy farming plays an important role in rural economy  and supports livelihood of small and nominal farmers to a great extent.  However, fall in demand for milk and other dairy products during the pandemic has badly affected their livelihood. In view of this, the state Government decided to announce the financial package for the milk farmers”.
