Odisha government will refund money of chit fund depositors

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will refund the money of chit fund depositors, said the BJP State President Manmohan Samal in a press conference held on Friday.
According to reports, he said that the government had promised before the elections and now the promise has been fulfilled. The money will be refunded to eligible depositors within 4 months.
The money will be refunded to eligible depositors in a phase-by-phase manner. Around 5 lakh depositors will be refunded with their amounts. In the next phase, the money of all depositors, big and small, will be refunded.
The depositors who had trusted the previous government paid the money, but the government broke their trust. In 15 years, 174 chit fund companies looted the money of depositors.
It is worth mentioning here that, the Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was a victim of fraud in chit fund. The Chief Minister said this in the National Consumer Day event in Bhubaneswar last December.
CM Majhi said that in 1990 and 2002, he fell victim of fraud by chit fund companies. One of these fraud company was a government entity while the other was a private company.
