Odisha Gets Rs 10,599 cr For Railways

New Delhi: Odisha has been allotted Rs 10,599 crore for Railways in Budget 2025-26, informed Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday.

In his address to the media persons, Vaishnaw said that Rs 10,599 crore has been allotted for Railways in Budget 2025-26 which is Rs 13 crore more than what the state got in 2024-25 financial year.

“I extend my sincere thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for the cooperation that helps to get No Objection Certificate for land and forest. Because of this, the Railways has invested Rs 78,000 crore in Odisha and works of some of the projects are still underway,” he said.

Currently, 6 new Vande Bharat Express trains are running from and through Odisha and more new trains will be introduced in the coming days as the four-laning work between Chennai and Calcutta will complete soon and the railway work from Calcutta to Bhadrak is in progress, the Minister said.

Vaishnaw further said that new railway track of 2046 kms have been constructed in Odisha in the last 10 years, which is more than the entire rail network of Malaya.

As of now, Kavach, the train protection system, has been installed in a total of 1898 kilometres and a target has been fixed to complete the installation of Kavach across the country withing six years, the Railway Minister informed.
