Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has extended the deadline for e-KYC updates for ration card beneficiaries till February 15, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra announced on Tuesday.
According to official data, around 39 lakh beneficiaries in the state have yet to complete their e-KYC update. So far, 2.95 crore residents of Odisha and 1.32 lakh Odias living outside the state have successfully updated their details.
The initial deadline for completing the process was January 31. Minister Patra reiterated that ration cards of those failing to update their e-KYC within the new deadline would be cancelled.
Beneficiaries have been urged to complete their e-KYC at local Electronic Public Service (EPS) outlets or ration distribution centres. The minister also confirmed that new ration cards would be issued after all eligible beneficiaries under the Public Distribution System (PDS) complete the process.
To facilitate the updates, the government has directed officials to assist both beneficiaries residing in Odisha and Odias currently living in other states.
