Odisha Earns ₹2,418.85 Crore from Iron Ore Exports to China in Three Years

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has exported 4.18 crore tonnes of iron ore to China over the past three years, generating a revenue of ₹2,418.85 crore, according to Steel and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena.

Replying to a query by Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Souvic Biswal in the Assembly today, the minister revealed that the exports took place between the 2022-23 fiscal year and March 10 of the 2024-25 financial year.

A significant portion of the revenue was earned in the last two years. In the 2022-23 financial year, Odisha earned ₹312.05 crore from iron ore exports to China. The revenue saw a sharp rise in 2023-24, reaching ₹1,086.96 crore. In the current 2024-25 fiscal year, the state has already earned ₹1,019.80 crore from exports until March 10.

Biswal, a BJD MLA, had sought details regarding the state’s iron ore exports over the last three years. The data highlights Odisha’s growing role in the global iron ore trade, with China remaining a key export destination.
