Odisha CM Warns Against Cooperative Disruptions

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Thursday issued a strong warning to those disrupting the functioning of cooperative societies in Odisha, during the 71st All India Cooperative Week celebrations held in Bhubaneswar.

“The government is closely monitoring elements causing disturbances within cooperative societies. We are committed to a peaceful cooperative environment and will not tolerate interference,” Majhi stated. He further warned that “Jharpada jail awaits those who try to harm the cooperative society,” emphasizing his administration’s dedication to protecting public interests.

Majhi also criticized the previous BJD-led government under Naveen Patnaik, accusing it of failing to fulfill promises made to paddy farmers. “The former government promised a bonus of Rs 100 above the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers in Sohela, Bargarh, but failed to deliver. Our government, however, is taking concrete steps to provide an additional input subsidy of Rs 800 per quintal to farmers,” the Chief Minister assured.

According to official reports, the Odisha government is making arrangements for smooth paddy procurement, beginning November 20 in Bargarh district, followed by Sambalpur on November 22. The procurement will gradually extend to all districts across the state.
