Odisha CM Hikes ₹2.5 Lakh Gratuity for Aided School Staff
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an increase in the gratuity for teaching and non-teaching staff of government-aided schools and colleges. The gratuity amount will be raised from ₹5 lakh to ₹7.5 lakh.
The decision applies to superannuation (retirement) gratuity and gratuity payable in the event of death. This move follows persistent appeals from teachers’ associations over an extended period.
In another significant development, the Chief Minister has approved the creation of 48 higher cadre posts in Odisha Vigilance. The new posts include eight Superintendents of Police (SPs), 24 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and 16 Sub-Inspectors.
The initiatives are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public administration and address the long-standing demands of educators.
