Odisha CM Announces Rs 3 Lakh Ex-Gratia, Free Treatment after Keonjhar Accident

Keonjhar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announces Rs 3 lakh ex-gratia for the families of the deceased and free treatment for the injured after a devastating road accident claimed at least five lives.

The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund will provide financial assistance to support the affected families in this time of grief and cover the medical expenses of the injured individuals.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at Sathighar Sahi near National Highway-20. The victims, who were part of a wedding procession celebrating the union of Kartik Patra’s daughter from Sathighar Sahi and Hemanta Patra, the son of Hadibandhu Patra from Manpur village in the Harichandanpur block, were joyously parading with DJ music when a tragic collision occurred with a truck just meters away from the bride’s house.

Immediate action by the fire services personnel facilitated the swift transportation of the injured to the Keonjhar district headquarters hospital for urgent medical attention.

The accident has left the witnesses and attendees at the scene devastated and mourning.
