Odisha Chief Minister Provides Update on Cyclone Dana Restoration Efforts

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced significant progress in restoring power supply to consumers affected by Cyclone Dana. In a briefing to journalists on Sunday, he reported that out of the 22,84,000 electricity consumers impacted, power has been restored to 22,32,000. Currently, approximately 50,000 consumers remain without electricity.

Following an aerial survey of the cyclone-affected areas, Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the ongoing efforts to restore power, emphasizing the dedication of the electricity department. “A total of 7,000 employees are actively working to restore the power supply. So far, we have completed 98 percent of the restoration work,” he stated. He also noted that waterlogging in low-lying areas has posed challenges to the restoration process.

In addition to power restoration, the Chief Minister provided an update on the status of cyclone shelters. Over 8,00,000 individuals sought refuge in 6,210 shelters during the cyclone. While most have returned home as water levels have receded, approximately 30,000 families remain in 470 shelters, still waiting for the waters to subside in their villages.

The government continues to monitor the situation closely and is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all affected residents as recovery efforts proceed.
