Odisha awarded in seven categories at National Panchayat Award- 2024
Bhubaneswar: As a golden chapter of Odisha’s unique achievement in rural development, Odisha has been honoured in seven categories under the ‘Jatiya Panchayat Awards’ by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi.
In this National Panchayat Award given by the Panchayati Raj Ministry of the Union Government, a prize amount of Rs 8.5 crore has been given to Odisha in seven categories.
In the Deendayal Upadhyaya Panchayat Satata Development Award category, Kelupalli Gram Panchayat of Rangeilunda Block in Ganjam District has been awarded Rs 75 lakh as the second best healthy Panchayat in the country and Sahapur Gram Panchayat of Hinjilikattu Block has been awarded Rs 75 lakh for the second Gram Panchayat Award with reliable infrastructure.
Under the Nanaji Deshmukh Best Panchayat Development Award, Rs 3 crore has been awarded to Koraput district as the second best district council in the country and Rs 2 crore to Chhatrapur Panchayat Samiti of Ganjam district as the best Panchayat Samiti.
Under the Special Panchayat Awards, Sundargarh District Banaigarh Block Kenrikela Village Panchayat has been awarded Rs 75 lakh for winning the second place in the country in the Carbon Neutral Special Panchayat Award category.
Odisha’s ‘State Rural Development and Panchayatiraj Institute’ has been awarded a prize of Rs 75 lakh as the second best panchayat skill development training institute in the country. All these funds were disbursed digitally.
The President called upon all Panchayati Raj Institutions to be involved in rural development. She congratulated Odisha for winning the highest prize in the country.
Union Panchayati Raj, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Minister of State Prof. SP Singh Baghel also spoke.
A short film based on the various Panchayati Raj Institutions awarded was screened at the event.
On behalf of Odisha, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Secretary Girish SN, State Rural Development and Panchayatiraj Institute Director Surendra Kumar Meena, Ganjam District Magistrate Dibyajyot Parida, Koraput District Magistrate Kirti Vasan, other senior officials of the department and representatives of Panchayatiraj Institute were present in this ceremony.
Panchayat Raj & Drinking Water and Rural Development Minister Ravi Narayan Naik congratulated all the Panchayati Raj Institutions, and all officers and employees of the State Rural Development and Panchayati Institutions for this special achievement of the State in National Panchayat Awards-2024.
