Odisha Assembly Adjourned Sine Die 20 Days Before Schedule

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned sine die on Wednesday, 20 days ahead of the scheduled conclusion of the Winter Session. Speaker Bikram Das declared the indefinite adjournment, marking an early end to the session that was initially planned to continue until December 31 with 30 working days.

The Winter Session, which began on November 26, concluded after just 12 working days. During the session, the supplementary budget was passed, two government bills were approved, and 10 private bills were introduced.

To ensure security during the session, the Commissionerate Police set up eight temporary camps and deployed 24 platoons of force. The arrangements were led by the DCP, supported by eight additional DCPs, two companies of CRPF, two units of the Special Tactical Unit, four platoons of SOG, as well as Dog and Bomb Disposal Squads.

The early adjournment of the Assembly has raised questions about the incomplete legislative agenda for the Winter Session.
