No Mahaprasad on Dining Table

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration in Puri of Odisha has appealed devotees to not to eat Mahaprasad, the offerring of Lord Jagannath temple of Puri on dining table. Rather, as per the tradition devotees should sit on the ground to eat Mahaprasad.
This comes in the wake of a video that is making the rounds on various social media platforms where a few people are seen eating Mahaprasad on dining table. In the video it was seen that a few people including women and children are having food while being seated on dining table. A priest is serving them the Mahaprasad. At this moment another gentleman is coming and gently saying the people that Mahaprasad should not be taken on dinging table.
After the video was shared on social media people came up with their opinions. Accordingly, SJTA released a note on its X handle where devotees were requested to eat Mahaprasad while seating on ground and not on dining table.
The letter said that recently some people were seen having Mahaprasad on dining table in a hotel of Puri. SJTA found that the video is making the rounds on social media. Lord Jagannath’s devotees have reacted to this video.
In this context on behalf of Srimandira it was cleared that Mahaprasad is worshipped as Anna Bramha. The tradition of having Mahaprasad while sitting on the ground is prevalent since long.
Hence, SJTA requested devotees to refrain them from the anti-traditional practice of eating Mahaprasad on dinging table. It was also asked that the hotels should also focus on this and they should aware their guests to not to follow such practice.
