No Hindrance to Odisha Universities: Arun Sahu

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Odisha University Act, 1989 has been amended and revised Ordinance 2020, has been promulgateded, in which all the universities in Odisha including Ravenshaw will have one act.

Higher education minister Dr Arun Kumar Sahu has stated that the tenure of vice-chancellors will be now 4 years instead of three. The retirement age of VCs are extended to 67. Odisha govt will have no authority in selection of VCs. Syndicate will be eleminated henceforth as it has no importance.

University teachers will be selected by the OPSC and other staffs by State Selection Board. The audit report of all universities will be uploaded in the website and will make public. This ordinance will facilitate all the universities to run their establisments smoothly.

These announcements were made by higher education minister in a webinar, where 1000 educationists along with the higher education secretary were present.
