NMC nods for 100 MBBS seats for Kalahandi medical college

Good news for the aspirants who want to make their career in medical path, as the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its permission for 100 MBBS seats at the government medical college in the Kalahandi district .

The Kalahandi district of Odisha received a Letter of Intent (LoI) to start admitting students from the 2023-24 academic session. The LoI was issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC), following an affidavit submitted by the state’s Health and Family Welfare Department.

As per an official information, the university will provide uniform and quality medical education in undergraduate and postgraduate courses of Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, laboratory technology and all other paramedical sciences in the state. The medical college will start admitting students from the current academic year.

Briefing about the colleges, Health and Family Welfare secretary Shalini Pandit had confirmed that four new medical colleges will be set up by the Odisha government in Kalahandi, Talcher, Jajpur, and Kandhamal.

Sources added that the Kalahandi Government Medical College and Hospital (MCH) has been set up at an investment of over Rs 200 crore. The beautification work of the medical college and hospital is almost complete.
