Nine Arrested in Jajpur Transformer Theft Racket

Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, Balichandrapur police on Thursday arrested nine individuals allegedly involved in a series of transformer thefts across various parts of Jajpur district.

Sources said that multiple cases of transformer theft had been reported in recent days across several police jurisdictions in the district. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted and apprehended the accused while they were reportedly planning another theft.

During the raid, officials recovered various stolen transformer parts, tools used in the thefts, and a car believed to have been used in the crimes.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused hail from different districts in Odisha and have been linked to multiple criminal cases registered at various police stations.

Police have initiated a detailed investigation to trace other members of the gang and uncover the full scope of the theft racket.
