Nayagarh Ex-Co-op Secretary Gets 4-Yr RI in Loan Fraud Case

Bhubaneswar: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday convicted Sri Prafulla Kumar Mishra, Retired Secretary of the Service Co-operative Society, Kamondo, Odagaon, Nayagarh District.
Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted Mishra under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 120-B of the IPC for misappropriating agricultural loan amounts intended for beneficiaries. The court sentenced Mishra to rigorous imprisonment for four years and imposed a fine. Following the conviction, the former secretary was sent to jail to serve his sentence. Vigilance sources confirmed that they would now move the competent authority to initiate the stoppage of his pension benefits in accordance with legal provisions.
