Navya Nanda response to Uttarakhand CM’s For His Ripped Jeans Remark
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Nanda strongly stand against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat’s remark about women wearing ripped jeans and the “example they set up before their children and the society.” has condemned the Chief Minister for his ‘outdated and patriarchal thinking’ for questioning women’s lifestyle choices.
Taking to Instagram, Navya shared one of her stories and said “Wtf” then added “Change your mentality before changing our clothes because the only thing shocking here is the message comments like this send to society. (angry emojis).”
In the next story, the youngster posted a picture of herself wearing ripped jeans. “I’ll wear my ripped jeans. Thank you. And I’ll wear them proudly,” Navya wrote, captioning the photo.
Navya, who graduated in digital technology and UX design from Fordham University last year and she has recently launched Project Naveli, an organization dedicated to building gender equality in India.
Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat on Tuesday during a workshop organized by the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights in Dehradun said “Showing bare knees by wearing ripped jeans just to look like rich kids is the value given now which is just a race towards westernization when the Western world today is following us. Ripped jeans pave the way for societal breakdown and is a bad example parent set for children,”
