Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has allocated Rs. 225.53 crores in the third and final phase of the MUKTA scheme for 36 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in 10 districts.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved the funding for ULBs located in Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Balangir, Subarnapur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Deogarh.
Under the MUKTA scheme, the 36 civic bodies have developed ward-wise action plans in consultation with local citizens and stakeholders. These plans consist of demand-driven, technically feasible, and environmentally sustainable projects. The projects will be implemented directly by Mission Shakti Groups.
The approved projects include climate resilient work, the development of civic amenities, open space development, waterbody development, construction of multi-purpose community centers, wall painting, city beautification, and other labor-oriented works.
The MUKTA scheme, also known as the Mukhya Mantri Karma Tatpara Abhiyan, was launched by the Chief Minister on April 18, 2020, to provide immediate employment opportunities for urban poor, informal workers and migrant laborers affected by the Covid-19 crisis. The scheme is designed to empower community-based organizations such as women’s self-help groups and slum dwellers associations.
Overall, the Chief Minister has sanctioned a total of Rs. 833.21 crores in three phases, covering all 115 ULBs in 30 districts of Odisha.
