National Children’s Science Congress 2018, begains in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar,Dec 28As many as 800 students from across India and abroad are in the capital city to showcase their creativity at the 26th edition of the National Children’s Science Congress that kicked off at Sikhya O Anusandhan (SOA) deemed-to-be university here on Thursday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the event and addressed the participants.

The theme of the event this year is “Science, Technology and Innovations for a Clean, Green and Healthy Nation”.

The event is supported by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) and aims at providing a platform to children for displaying their innovations in science and also learn from others’ novel ideas.

Launched in 1993, It is for the second time that the event is being organized in Odisha. Earlier, the event was held in 2015.

Along with childrens, 400 teachers, guides, facilitators, scientists, evaluators,researchers and parents are also attending the event..

The children will present their research findings carried out relating to the focal theme and identified sub-themes, during the technical sessions. The idea being to prompt them to ponder over societal problems, find their causes and subsequently try and solve the same.

The event will also feature colourful cultural programmes as children from different states and countries will perform every evening, as per the press note.
