Narrow escape for Indigo flight, lands safely even after ‘Fuel Mayday’ call

New Delhi: An Indigo flight narrowly escaped recently and landed safely even after ‘Fuel Mayday’ call. The flight was travelling from Guwahati to Chennai on Thursday when the pilot issued a ‘Mayday’ call due to insufficient fuel. ANI reported about this in an X post on Saturday.
As per the information, an IndiGo flight 6E 6764 travelling from Guwahati to Chennai on Thursday was forced to divert to Bengaluru after the pilot issued a ‘fuel mayday’ call due to insufficient fuel.
The diversion occurred because of congestion at Chennai airport, which prevented the aircraft from landing there in time. Passengers were on board during the emergency reroute. The flight landed safely in Bengaluru at 8:15 PM, according to sources, reported newsmen.
It is to be noted that earlier this month there was a devastating tragedy that occurred on June 12, 2025, when an Air India flight AI-171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat killing 275 people, including 241 passengers and crew members, and 34 individuals on the ground. Reportedly, the pilot had issued ‘Mayday’ call before the accident, but before ATC could respond to the call, the devastating accident took place.
