My Govt committed to ensure overall development of tribal communities in Odisha: CM Majhi

Nayagarh: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today said the state government has undertaken many programs for the development of tribals in Odisha.
Exhorting all to contribute to the successful implementation of these programmes, the CM said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has launched many welfare projects under the ‘Dharti Aba Janjatiya Gram Akhtar Yojana’ in order to bridge the gap in health, education, livelihood and infrastructure of the tribal communities and bring them into the mainstream.”
As many as 7,667 villages across 27 districts of Odisha have been covered under this campaign, he pointed out.
Speaking at the foundation day ceremony of the ‘Bharat Vishwavasu Shabar Samaj’, the CM said, “Our government is committed to protecting the rich traditions and heritage of the tribal communities. They are being empowered by granting forest land rights.”
In a remarkable achievement, Odisha has registered an all-India record by granting Habitat Rights to 8 Specially Protected Tribal Groups (PVTGs) of the state under the Forest Land Rights Act, he said, stating, “Our government is working with commitment to grant forest land rights to the tribal communities within a specified time frame.”
Our government is giving importance to the overall development of tribals, he stressed.
To check the dropout rate of tribal students, our government has introduced ‘Madho Singh Hath Vadaksha Yojana,’ he said.
Starting from the ‘Subhadra’ scheme for women to increasing the minimum support price of paddy, from women empowerment to farmer prosperity; we are moving forward keeping all aspects in mind, he informed.
“We are trying to see how our tribal brothers and sisters can live with dignity and become self-reliant. The slogan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vishwas-Sabka Prayas’ is guiding us in this direction,” he said.
The State government’s efforts are not only focused on developing agriculture and industry, but also on promoting the identity of Odia identity, culture, heritage and rich traditions, he said.
“On the foundation day of this ‘’Bharat Vishwavasu Shabar Samaj’, I would like to say that our tribal brothers and sisters will be the messengers of our development. This institution and this region will be developed,” he assured. After our new government comes to power, funds are being provided for the development of this region. Rs. 15 crore has been provided for the Pathani Samanta Planetarium here. Similarly, Rs. 6 crore has been provided for the Science Park and Science Center, and Rs. 2 crore for the Pathani Samanta Smriti Peeth. Rs. 2 crore has also been provided for the largest thermal power plant in Asia in this region, he informed.
The demands of the Nilamadhab temple management committee, such as financial provision for the annual maintenance of the temple, a special corpus fund etc will be considered, he said.
Efforts will continue to ensure that this region finds a place in the country’s tourism map, he said, assuring that there would be no shortage of money for the improvement, beautification and maintenance of the temple. The District Collector is also being instructed to prepare a DPR again. Our government will do everything necessary in the coming days to make this Nilamadhav area a world-class tourist and spiritual and religious destination, he assured.
He urged all to take a pledge to build a healthy society, a healthy environment, a happy and prosperous Odisha.
