Mohan seeks blessings to inaugurate Odia calendar

Puri: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the Puri Srimandir on Sunday and seeked the blessings of Lord Jagannath.

The CM was given a grand welcome by the SJTA Chief administrator and the servitors near the Singhadwara. The CM was accompanied by Law Minister Pritviraj Harichandan and Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari.

After the darshan, CM will inaugurate Odia calendar 2025-26 published by the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA).

The Odia calendar 2025-26 will have a list of festivals and  tithi as per the almanac. Ahead of the Odia New Year celebrated as Maha Bisuba Sankranti which falls on Monday, the Odia calendar will be inaugurated.

There is a tradition of drinking pana at home on this day in Odisha. Similarly, since it is Hanuman’s birthday, various temples are crowded from early morning to offer prayers to Lord Hanuman.
