Mohammed Shami receives death threat

Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami received a death threat through an email. His brother Haseeb disclosed the news. The threat email was received on Sunday, May 4, and his family reported the incident to the Amorha police, who are currently probing the case.

According to the complaint, an email was received from a sender named Rajput Sindhar threatening to kill Mohammed Shami along with a demand of Rs 1 crore.

Shami, playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025, has been struggling with a poor campaign till now, taking 6 wickets in 9 games at 56.17 average. Notwithstanding this, he is working hard to put his best on the field.

The pacer had a successful comeback to the Indian squad in the Champions Trophy after being out of action for a long time following surgery after the World Cup 2023. Shami was India’s co-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 9 wickets in 5 matches.

Shami’s recent stint with SRH has been an eye-opener, as he gives credit to the team for altering his way of thinking. “SRH has totally altered my mindset—what was earlier a 200-run target now seems like 300,” he stated. Shami is looking forward to being a part of the team’s success and feels SRH has a good bowling line-up.

Shami will probably feature in India’s red-ball cricket matches during the upcoming England tour, which begins on June 20.
