Modi not likely to contest from Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: Even as media has been speculating Prime Minister Narendra Modi contesting from Puri Lok Sabha constituency in Odisha during the 2019 elections, the Prime Minister has termed it as “rumour’.

“Mediawaalon ko bhi toh kuch kaam milna chahiye na…kuch na kuch chalta rehta hai” (Media always needs something to discuss), Modi said during an interview with a leading news agency.

Notably, media circles in Odisha was abuzz sometime ago over the possibility of the Prime Minister contesting elections from some constituency in Odisha.

Senior BJP leaders had claimed that the possibility cannot be ruled out as Modi has a soft corner for the state and wants it developed in all respect.

In 2014, Modi had contested from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
