Mock drill in 12 places in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Mock drill in Odisha as per the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs to be conducted on May 7. The Union Home Ministry had directed all the states to conduct a mock drill in response to the defense emergency in the nation.
In Odisha the mock drill is likely to be conducted in 12 places having national importance. Balasore’s Chandipur houses the Integrated test range (ITR) testing centre. The Abdul Kalam Wheeler island in Dhamra, Sunabeda’s MiG factory are also significant from the defence stance.
The mock drills will be conducted in 12 places in Talcher, Paradip, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Jagatsinghpur, Koraput, Hirakud, Gopalpur and Dhenkanal.
Mock drill can be conducted in these places as well as other places of importance on May 7 as per the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs. They said the measures to be undertaken include operationalization of Air Raid Warning Sirens and training of civilians, students,etc on the civil defence aspects to protect themselves in the event of a hostile attack.
The sources said measures also include the provision of crash blackout measures, provision for early camouflaging of vital installations and updation of the evacuation plan and its rehearsal.
