Met department issues storm warning
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has issued a cyclonic storm warning in the next 24 hours due to a deep depression over Bay of Bengal.
“A depression has formed over southeast Bay of Bengal and lay centered at 08.30 hrs IST of today, the 10th November, 2018 near latitude 11.7°N and longitude 92.5°E, about 20 km northwest of Port Blair (Andaman Islands), 1340 km east-southeast of Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and 1390 km east-southeast of Nellore (Andhra Pradesh). It is very likely to intensify into a Deep Depression during next 24 hours and into a Cyclonic Storm during the subsequent 24 hours. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards during next 48 hours and then west-southwestwards towards north Tamil Nadu – south Andhra Pradesh coasts during the subsequent 72 hours,” an afternoon bulletin of Met department said.
“The sea condition is very likely to be rough to very rough over southeast & adjoining east central Bay of Bengal on 10th and 11th; high over central parts of south & adjoining west central & adjoining east central Bay of Bengal from 12th November. It is likely to become ‘very high’ over west central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal on 13th and over southwest and adjoining west central bay of Bengal on 14th,” the Met bulletin informed.
Even though no heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Odisha, fishermen are advised not to venture into south-east and adjoining eas- central Bay of Bengal on 10th, over central and adjoining south-east Bay of Bengal during 11th to 13th and over southwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal from 13th November. Those, who are out in deep sea areas are advised to return to the coast before November 12th.
