Mercedes-Benz V-Class van to launch on 24th January in India
Mercedes-Benz V-Class, the luxury van from the iconic German brand, will launch in India on 24 January 2019. Mercedes-Benz India aims to create a new ‘Luxury Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV)’ segment in the country with the launch of the new V-Class.
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class is a popular vehicle in global markets, especially in Europe. It is used for both business purposes and cab services. The current-generation V-Class was introduced back in 2014. In standard format, the latest V-class model is over five metres in length, and this can be extended a bit more with the ‘Extended Length’ option. Though a range of seating options (including a sleeper configuration) are available in global markets, India is expected to get the V-Class only in a six-seater format.
On the features front, the global-spec V-Class comes with customizable seats with swiveling function. Safety aids include attention assist, crosswind assist and a 360-degree camera with blind spot and lane departure warning. The luxury van also gets the latest version of the brand’s Comand infotainment system. A BS-VI-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine (the same which powers most other Mercedes models in India) should be the possible power plant. The engine makes around 191bhp and 400Nm, while mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes-Benz India will initially sell it as a CBU model, and local assembly will be considered at a later stage, if demand persists. The expected price range of the new Mercedes-Benz V-Class is around Rs 70 – 75 lakh ex-showroom.
