Mayurbhanj: Woman Killed in Tusker Attack

Baripada: A 35-year-old woman identified as Manka was trampled to death by a wild elephant near the Radhikasol village under Betanati block in the Baripada forest range in  Mayurbhanj district in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to reports, the stray wild elephant came out of the Betanti forest range area, crossed National Highway 18 and entered the village at around 3.00 am on Thursday. The wild pachyderm damaged some houses in the village. At the house of a person named Sitanath, the wild elephant pulled out his wife Manka with its trunk and trampled her to death on the spot.

Following the incident, the villagers staged a demonstration. A person died and two were seriously injured in the Suliapada police station area in an elephant attack on Monday evening.
