Mayurbhanj district in Odisha is experiencing a severe cold wave, with temperatures plummeting to as low as 1°C on Monday. The extreme weather has led to snowfall in parts of the Similipal sanctuary, transforming the region into a winter wonderland reminiscent of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports indicate that areas within Similipal, including Upper Barakamuda, are blanketed in snow, creating picturesque white landscapes. The minimum temperature recorded in the region over the past 24 hours is 1°C.

While the snowfall has brought a rare sight to Odisha, the harsh cold wave has created challenges for the local population. Residents are struggling to cope with the biting cold, with many relying on fireplaces to stay warm.
