Mayurbhanj Man Gets 20 Years RI for Assaulting Minor Boy

Mayurbhanj: In a swift delivery of justice, the Adhoc Fast Track Special Court under the POCSO Act in Mayurbhanj has sentenced a 25-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the sexual assault of a 7-year-old boy.

The conviction was delivered in less than four months from the registration of the case, which was filed under Jamda Police Station Case No. 4/25 dated January 13, 2025. The accused was found guilty under Sections 137(2), 115(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court has recommended a compensation of Rs. 1,00,000 to be paid to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme.

Legal authorities have lauded the court’s expedited trial and strong stance on crimes against children, emphasizing the importance of timely justice in such sensitive cases.
