Matrujyoti Kick-Starts in Sundargarh

Sundargarh (Reporters Today Bureau): In Sundargarh district, ‘Matrujyoti’ is a strong initiative for women and child development. Under the program, four ultrasound examinations will be performed during pregnancy for all pregnant women in the district.

The service will be provided through 8 government health centers and 41 affiliated private ultrasound clinics in the district under Matrujyoti. In rural and urban areas, Asha / Anganwadi workers will take pregnant women with them and consult a doctor. The programme will benefit more than 2,800 pregnant women in Sundargarh district every year. Sundargarh district magistrate Nikhil Pawan Kalyan said, “matrujyoti” would play an important role in protecting the health of pregnant mothers and children.

More than 2,500 Anganwadi Centers in the district are being renovated. More than 700 model Anganwadi centers will also be built. Anganwadi centers can now be more enjoyable for mothers and babies. With the financial support from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) and the OMBADC Fund, the district has launched a major maternal and child welfare programme. The event kicked off on Sunday in a special ceremony.
