Mass Fish Deaths in Cuttack’s Sapua River

Cuttack: In a concerning incident, numerous fish and aquatic organisms were found dead in the Sapua River at Athagarh in Cuttack district on Sunday morning. Authorities suspect that the river may have been poisoned with insecticides by unidentified miscreants on Saturday night.

Locals reported seeing the lifeless fish and other organisms floating in the river, sparking fears of water contamination. Despite warnings, several residents were seen collecting the dead fish, raising concerns about the potential health risks posed by consuming them.

Experts have warned that the fish may have ingested the poisonous substances, rendering them unfit for consumption. Authorities are expected to investigate the matter and take measures to prevent further contamination of the river.
