Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee passes away

Stan Lee, the chief writer and editor of Marvel Comics, who helped create some of the most popular and most loved superheroes of the 20th century, breathed his last in Los Angeles on Monday. Lee was declared dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to Kirk Schenck, an attorney for Lee’s daughter, J.C. Lee, AP reported. He was 95.

The man who gave the world creations like Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and numerous others, wanted to do something different from the characters of DC Comics; Lee wanted to create superheroes who were vulnerable, who bled, got hurt, and had everyday problems.

There will never be another Stan Lee. For decades he provided both young and old with adventure, escape, comfort, confidence, inspiration, strength, friendship and joy. He exuded love and kindness and will leave an indelible mark on so, so, so many lives.

He didn’t have cloaks, didn’t have powers; but he inspired us to be better, taught us that imagination hasn’t limits, that no matter who you are you can achieve your goals. He helped us to live and will always be the best superhero of all.

I still can’t wrap my head around this. Marvel comics helped my growth as a teen looking for answers. I loved the diverse characters you created and how they had to face the same everyday choices I also had to make. I knew I wasn’t alone.
