Maoists call for Malkangiri bandh on July 20 against Polavaram Project

The Maoists have given a call for a district- wide bandh on July 20 protesting against Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious Polavaram project. The red rebels wanted immediate withdrawal of the project for the benefit of locals. The Polavaram Dam project will displace Dalits, Tribals, poor and marginalised people of the region benefiting the ruling class, capitalists and elite people only. Notably on July 13 Maoist posters protesting Polavaram project have put up at different places at Chitrakonda block in Malkangiri district, The posters were put up by the Malkangiri-Koraput-Visakhapatnam Border (MKVB) division
