Man Dies Days After Being Set Ablaze by Father in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Days after his father allegedly set him and his wife on fire, a man from Barasinga village under Barang police limits succumbed to his injuries at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Thursday.

The accused, 65-year-old Gobardhan Rout, was arrested earlier in connection with the incident.

According to reports, Gobardhan allegedly poured petrol on his son, Dinabandhu Rout (40), and daughter-in-law, Puja Rout (32), and set them ablaze while they were having dinner on December 1. Both suffered critical burn injuries and were hospitalized.

Puja succumbed to her injuries shortly after the incident, and Dinabandhu passed away today.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a family dispute led to the tragic event. Police are continuing their probe into the matter.
