Man Allegedly Beaten to Death by Brother in Ganjam’s Brahmanpadar Village

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident in Ganjam district, a 35-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his elder brother in Brahmanpadar village under Tarasingh police station limits on Saturday night.
The deceased, identified as Balaram Gowda, was a painter by profession and lived with his wife and child in Bhanjanagar. According to reports, Balaram had returned to his native village on Saturday for personal reasons. After spending some time at his parents’ home, he stepped outside to urinate when an altercation broke out between him and his elder brother in front of the house. The cause of the dispute remains unclear.
The situation turned violent when the elder brother, along with others, allegedly tied Balaram to a tree on the village road and assaulted him brutally. Hearing the commotion, Balaram’s mother rushed to the spot but found her son lying lifeless.
On Sunday morning, Balaram’s wife, Sumitra Mallick, was informed of the incident. She promptly reached the village and lodged a complaint with Tarasingh police.
Police have seized the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The elder brother and another individual have been detained for questioning as investigations continue.
