Mamita Row: Saffron Party Halts 6 Districts

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Odisha BJP today observed bandh in six districts demanding arrest and dismissal of Minister of State (Home) Captain Dibyashankar Mishra over his alleged link in Mamita Meher murder case. The Saffron party is observing 12-hour bandh in five districts — Baleswar, Deogarh, Boudh, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur — and 6-hour bandh in Bhadrak district to mount pressure on Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government seeking removal of the minister.
The protest began in different places of Bhadrak district from 6.00 AM onwards. The agitators staged demonstration at Bant Chhak, Charampa Railway Station, New Bus Stand, Kacheri Road, Collectorate, in front of court, in front of SP Office, Bhadrak College Square as well as various places including Randia, Charampa, Ranital and Ichhapur. The protest will continue till 12.00 noon in the district.
The vehicular movement remained off the road in Baleswar, Boudh, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur districts due to 12-hour bandh by the BJP workers. The trains were also halted at major railway stations in Baleswar and Bhadrak districts. The party demanded immediate dismissal of Minister over his alleged link with prime accused Govinda Sahu in murder of Sunshine School teacher Mamita Meher in Kalahandi district.
