Mahanadi bus mishap: Driver detained

Cuttack: In a recent development in the Mahanadi bus tragedy, Jagatpur Police has registered a case against the bus driver, who is currently undergoing treatment at the SCB hospital.

A case under Sections 279, 337, 338 and 304 of the IPC have been registered against the driver identified as Khageswar Muduli, the police said

 A three-member committee has been formed to probe the exact cause leading to the accident.

Informing this to the media, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Cuttack, Dipti Ranjan Patra said the committee, led by the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), will probe the accident from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the NHAI has started repair work on the broken railing of the bridge, where the tragic accident took place last evening.
