Low Pressure May Bring Rainfall to Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify in the next two days, bringing rainfall to central and eastern Odisha. According to weather forecasts, parts of Khurda, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur may experience rain due to the western winds. Hailstorms are also possible in some areas on December 8.

The low-pressure system is likely to develop further over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the southern Andaman Sea before making landfall on December 14, potentially impacting Sri Lanka and southern Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are expected to receive heavy rainfall, with Andhra Pradesh’s coast also likely to experience rain.

The ongoing western winds have caused a rise in nighttime temperatures, but the cold wave is predicted to strengthen from December 9. The chill is expected to intensify further on December 10 and 11.
