Lord Jagannath Owns a Total of 60,822 Acre Land in the Country

Bhubaneswar (Mrutyunjaya Bhoi): In between the question hour of Odisha Assembly today, Law Minister Pratap Jena reveals the Jagannath land report by giving answer to the question of MLA Ramesh Chandra Sai.

According to the minister’s answer, the Jagannath temple of Puri owned a total of 60,427 acre in Odisha, spread over 77,356 plots. Out of this, record of rights for 34,803 acre land has been received by the temple, Pratap Jena said in the assembly today.

Most of these property is located in four districts of the State: Puri – 17,071 acre, Khurda – 29,752 acre, Cuttack – 3,214 acre and Bhadrak – 2,937 acre. Apart from that the Law Minister also said that, in six states of the country Lord Jagannath owns 395.252 acre land, those state are- West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
