Bengaluru: As the biggest rise of over 34,000 new cases in 24 hours reported in Karnataka, the government on Monday decided to enforce lockdown for the next two weeks starting from Tuesday evening onwards.
“COVID curfew will be implemented in the state from tomorrow 9 pm for the next 14 days,” Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said, using the phrase “close down”.
No public transport during the curfew and shops will be allowed to operate between 6 am and 10 am for the essential services.
Yediyurappa added that from April 27 evening, strict measures will be in place. “Request vendors, shopkeepers to close right after 10 a.m. so the police don’t have to compel them. Manufacturing sector constructions, agricultural activities will be allowed but garment factories will be prohibited,”
Only construction, manufacturing, and agriculture sectors are allowed to work.
Traveling within the state and to other states will also not be permissible, apart from urgent situations.
