Leopard drags away 4-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a leopard attacked and reportedly dragged away a four-year-old girl from her house. The incident reportedly took place in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district on Wednesday evening.

The minor has been identified as Roshni. According to the sources, Roshni was playing outside her home in the hill town of Valparai. As per the statement given by officials, they said that the leopard allegedly lifted the minor girl and dragged her away to the nearby forest area.

In a statement given by a senior police official, he told “Forest officials and police are jointly searching the area.”

The attack has triggered widespread panic among the local residents.

As the cases related to man and animal conflicts are rising, Tamil Nadu forest department are installing AI-based camera systems in sensitive zones to detect wildlife movement and warn residents in real time.

Forest department has also advised the locals to remain indoors after dark and keep children under their supervision.

The search operation is underway.
