Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary Reopens

Balasore: The Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district reopened for visitors from Friday. It had been closed for tourists since June 15 due to the monsoon season.

The sanctuary will remain open from 9.30 am to 5 pm. The entry fees are Rs 40 per person, Rs 50 for cameras, and Rs 100 for four-wheelers. Various wildlife species, including elephants, tigers, leopards, sambar, deer, wild boar, and different avian species live in this sanctuary, spread over 272.75 square kilometers.

The forest department has made elaborate arrangements for tourists after the reopening of the sanctuary. The facilities for tourists include the Risia nature camp, which has nine eco-friendly cottages for night stays priced at Rs 3,854.

On the other hand, strict restrictions have been imposed on the consumption of intoxicating substances. In a bid to prevent wildlife from venturing into human settlements, trenches have been dug around the perimeter. Tourists can stay overnight and enjoy the thrill of exploring the surroundings while spotting wildlife from four artificial salt pits and five watchtowers to facilitate wildlife spotting at this sanctuary.
