Krishan Kumar appointed BMC Commissioner

Bhubaneswar, Jan 17: The Odisha government has appointed Scretary, Cooperation and Special Secretary Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment department Krishan Kumar as the Administrator of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Notably, the five-year term of the civic body expired on January 16.

The Housing and Urban Development Department, in a notification on Wednesday, said that Kumar will now discharge the duties of the Corporation as the administrator till the date of the first meeting of the newly-elected corporators.

The appointment has been made as per sub-section (6) of section 48 of the Odisha Municipal Corporation Act, 2003 (Odisha Act, 11 of 2003), the notification added.

Earlier, Kumar had served as BMC commissioner for nearly five years before being shifted on December 21 last year.
