Key Witness in Naba Das Cook’s Death Case Critically Injured in Road Accident

Jharsuguda: A key witness in the mysterious death case of slain BJD leader Naba Das’ cook sustained serious injuries in a road accident in Jharsuguda district today.

The victim, Monu Prasad, who works as a pet caretaker at Naba Das’ residence, was critically injured after being hit by a pickup van in Belpahar town. He was immediately rushed to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, for treatment.

Prasad is a crucial witness in the case of Lalit Sahu’s death, who was employed as a cook at Naba Das’ residence. Sahu was found dead in the staff quarters on April 17, 2022, under mysterious circumstances. A few months later, Naba Das, the former Odisha Health & Family Welfare Minister, was shot dead by an on-duty police officer on January 29, 2023.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, given Prasad’s significance in the ongoing inquiry into Sahu’s death.
