Junior Engineer Arrested for Accepting Bribe in Kandhamal

Kandhamal: A junior engineer was arrested by vigilance officials in the Phiringia block of Kandhamal district on Monday morning for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The official, identified as Ashok Padhy, was apprehended at his government residence while accepting the bribe from a contractor in exchange for approving a bill. The entire bribe amount was seized from his possession.

Following the arrest, simultaneous raids are underway at two locations to investigate assets that may be disproportionate to his known income. Further details are awaited.
