Junior Clerk in Vigilance Snare

Khurda: Odisha vigilance today nabbed Junior Clerk of Balipatna Sub-Registrar’s office, Sukanta Kumar Singh, and his associate Mahendra Sahu (private person) while demanding and taking bribe today.

Singh and Sahu were apprehended while demanding and taking 2nd instalment of bribe Rs 2,500 of overall demand of bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant (functionary of a Trust Board) for handing over a registered trust deed.

Singh had earlier received Rs 1,500 from the complainant on July 11 and was demanding the rest amount to hand over the deed to the complainant. Left with no other option, the complainant reported the matter to vigilance authorities.

Following this, Vigilance Officers nabbed the accused duo Singh and Sahoo today, while taking bribe Rs 2,500 from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from them.

Following the trap, searches are being conducted at two locations of Singh from DA angle.

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 15 dtd. 15.07.2025 u/s 7 PC Act, 1988, as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Junior Clerk and Sahu (private person).
