Junior Clerk Arrested for Bribery in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Debajani Kar, a Junior Clerk at the Sub-Registrar Office in Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar, in a bribery case. The arrest followed a trap operation conducted after a complaint was filed against her.

According to reports, Kar was caught demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a complainant for processing the execution of a Registered Sale Deed (RSD) for a subplot on December 9, 2024. She is scheduled to be presented in court today.

Following the arrest, a search of the Sub-Registrar Office revealed cash amounting to over ₹15 lakh. The verification of the seized money is being carried out by senior departmental officers and vigilance officials.

A case has been registered under Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 26, dated December 8, 2024. The investigation is ongoing.
