Jumbo Found Dead in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: The carcass of a jumbo was recovered in Dhenkanal Sadar forest range on Friday. As per reports, some locals spotted the carcass lying in the premises of a farmhouse in Borapada Khamar village under Dhenkanal Sadar range and alerted the forest officials.

On getting the information, DFO and other forest officials reached the spot and recovered the carcass. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem. The deceased elephant is around 15 years old.

Though the exact reason behind the death of the pachyderm is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that it might have been electrocuted. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
