Jumbo crushes woman to death in Cuttack

A woman was crushed to death by an elephant at Badapokhari village in Tangi of Cuttack district this morning. The deceased was identified as Meena Singh.

According to reports, the elephant which stormed into the village, trampled the woman to death last night as she was missing since then said the villagers.

Following the incident, irate locals blocked Tangi-Kapilas road by burning tyres disrupting vehicular movements.

The villagers demanded concrete steps by the forest department for the safety of their family  members and compensation to victims’s family.

On being informed police reached the spot and try to calm the situation.
